Pope to young priests: put your heart in all that you do

Pope Francis spoke about the challenges new priests are facing during this plenary meeting for the Congregation of the Clergy. He thanked them for the official document they recently published regarding the preparation of future priests.

POPE FRANCIS: "This document speaks of an integral formation, capable of including all aspects of life. For that reason, it indicates the way to form missionary disciples.”

Pope Francis also asked the bishops to take special care of the young priests. He asked them to have faith in them, because God trusts young people.

He gave them two pieces of advice:

Do not let the lack of vocations lead you to accept a man without a vocation into the seminary.

Do not abandon their priests, but instead to heed their calls and go meet them.

He gave young priests three tips:

  1. Pray every day.
  2. Do not be satisfied or think that you know everything.
  3. Finally, for them to put their heart in all that they do, because to be a priest is to live a life for God and for others.
